Going once, going twice, SOLD!

When a “lovely lady” donated a several pieces of jewelry to Turpentine Creek Wildlife Preserve to help it raise money for its big cats, TCWR Education Coordinator Bonnie Glover had this idea.

“Two years ago, another intern did an online auction that was pretty successful,” she said. “Usually we just do our art auction at the annual Cats in the Castle event out at Rogue’s Manor Castle in Beaver every April, but several of these items were small or otherwise simply didn’t seem the sort of thing that would do as well at the art auction, so I decided to take these extra pieces and hold a new online auction.”

The auction also included items from the TCWR gift shop as well as original cat paintings, a project in which big cats are given the ingredients to do their own art, and the results are reproduced and made available for sale.

Her idea paid off. “Because of the holiday season, and because of shipping, I was mainly looking for things that weren’t too big or too breakable,” Glover said.  “Overall, I am pretty excited with how it turned out. The auction raised $5,317″!
