Because of You, Our Mission Has Entered a Bold New Phase

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is expanding its mission beyond big cats to rescue all captive wild animals. Learn how your support is driving real change.

You Helped Us Rescue Big Cats—Now We’re Saving Even More Wildlife

For over three decades, Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge has been a safe haven for rescued big cats—tigers, lions, leopards, and cougars—rescued from the exotic pet trade. Thanks to your support, we’ve grown into one of the nation’s leading big cat sanctuaries, committed to providing lifelong care and advocating for better wildlife protection laws.

Now, a new era has begun.

A Major Victory: The Big Cat Public Safety Act

The recent passage of the Big Cat Public Safety Act was a historic win for captive wildlife in the United States. This groundbreaking legislation prohibits private ownership and public contact with big cats and is already having a powerful impact.

But as regulations take hold and breeding slows, a new challenge has emerged—one that demands bold action and broader compassion.

Expanding Our Mission to Help More Captive Wild Animals

Every week, we receive calls asking for help—not just for big cats, but for smaller wild cats, bears, hybrids, and other captive exotic animals in crisis.

Thanks to your unwavering support, Turpentine Creek is proud to announce the official expansion of our mission:

We now rescue and provide lifetime sanctuary for all captive wild animals in need.

This new direction allows us to respond to a growing national and global crisis—where wild animals are kept in unsafe, illegal, or inhumane conditions, often outside the scope of current laws.

By evolving our focus, we’re answering a critical call and staying true to the promise we’ve always made:
If no one else can help, we will.

Our New Logo: A Symbol of Growth and Commitment

Alongside our mission expansion, we’re proud to unveil a new logo that reflects this bold new phase.

The design features a tiger facing forward—representing our continued dedication to big cats, while also symbolizing forward motion, strength, and an inclusive future for all captive wild animals.

It’s more than a fresh look—it’s a signal of who we are becoming, together with you.

Recent Rescues & What’s Next

This isn’t just a vision. It’s already happening:

  • We’ve recently rescued 15 big cats in need.
  • We’re preparing for 2 more rescues currently in progress, involving 7 more animals.

This growth comes with real challenges—but also real hope. With your help, we’re expanding our wildlife rescue efforts and working toward a world where all captive wild animals have a safe place to land.
