Salvador's Story

Species: Tiger (Panthera tigris)

DOB: July 1, 2017

Sex: Male

Arrival: April 2, 2025

Salvador was one of seven tigers rescued in April 2025 from a private facility in Pahrump, Nevada, as part of a large-scale animal cruelty case. Confined in a cramped, shipping container-sized enclosure filled with nails, screws, and other debris, Salvador had limited access to clean water and a safe environment. Fortunately, he was in better physical condition than most of the other tigers rescued that day, though still underweight and in need of immediate care.

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge’s (TCWR) team traveled 1,450 miles to safely transport Salvador and his companions to our Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS)–accredited facility in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Upon arrival, Salvador received a thorough veterinary evaluation and was placed on a specialized diet to help him continue gaining strength.

Salvador now resides in a spacious habitat where he can explore, stretch, and engage in natural behaviors. His progress is carefully monitored by our veterinary and animal care teams, ensuring he receives the medical care, nutrition, and enrichment necessary for his recovery.
