Species: Tiger (Panthera tigris)
DOB: September 1, 2016
Sex: Male
Arrival: April 2, 2025
Mustafa was one of seven tigers rescued in April 2025 from a private facility in Pahrump, Nevada, as part of a large-scale animal cruelty case. Confined in a shipping container-sized enclosure filled with hazardous debris, Mustafa had limited access to clean water and adequate living conditions. Despite these challenges, he was in relatively decent physical condition, though slightly underweight, compared to some of the other tigers rescued alongside him.
Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge’s (TCWR) team traveled 1,450 miles to safely transport Mustafa and his companions to our Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS)–an accredited facility in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Upon arrival, Mustafa received a thorough veterinary evaluation and was placed on a specialized diet to help him gain weight and build strength.
Remarkably, Mustafa adjusted to his new surroundings faster than any of the other tigers rescued in this operation. He quickly began exploring his spacious habitat, taking advantage of the room to stretch, roam, and experience a safer, more enriching environment. Mustafa is a happy-go-lucky boy and a toy destroyer! He will need more massive toys.
