Livia's Story

Species: Tiger (Panthera tigris)

DOB: October 1, 2015

Sex: Female

Arrival: April 2, 2025

Livia, the lone white tigress among the seven tigers rescued from a private facility in Pahrump, Nevada, arrived at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge (TCWR) in April 2025. Confined in unsafe, debris-filled enclosures with limited access to clean water, Livia endured years of neglect before being rescued. Though she was underweight and in need of medical attention, Livia’s fighting spirit shone through from the moment she arrived.

Upon arrival, Livia underwent a full veterinary evaluation after being transported 1,450 miles to our Global Federation of Animal Sanctuaries (GFAS)–accredited facility in Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Our medical team quickly identified health concerns that will require ongoing care to ensure her comfort and well-being. She is currently receiving a specialized diet and treatment plan tailored to her individual needs, as well as close monitoring from our veterinary and animal care teams.
Despite her challenges, Livia has begun settling into her new habitat, cautiously exploring her surroundings and enjoying the safety and space she was denied for too long.
