Species: African Serval (Leptailurus serval)
DOB: May 27, 2016
Sex: Female
Arrival: May 27, 2022
Lexie, a nine-year-old African Serval, was rehomed to Turpentine Creek in May 2022. Her previous owners had to relocate from Louisiana due to an illness in the family. Lexie quickly adapted to the sanctuary life and was fearless in exploring her new habitat. Upon arriving at the Refuge, Lexie received an initial veterinary exam, which showed her to be medically sound. However, her previous family had informed TCWR’s staff that she had been limited to a commercial cat food diet. The Animal Care Staff slowly transitioned Lexie to a raw meat diet filled with the nutrition her body needed. Her former family is helping to ensure she receives proper care by sponsoring her as she ages.
Lexie loves perching herself on a platform near her enclosure’s roof, which allows her to see everything in her spacious habitat. Lexie had previously been declawed and will remain on our pain management program to help slow down the arthritis that this procedure causes with age. Lexi has a more reserved personality and enjoys spending her days lounging and relaxing in the grass of her habitat, basking in the sun, or seeking out the cool shade. She prefers to keep to herself, finding solace in quiet moments as she observes her neighbors from a distance.
Your contribution helps provide them with nutritious meals, veterinary care, habitat maintenance, and enrichment activities.
