Bob the bobcat’s story is a testament to resilience—and the kindness of people who recognized his needs. Much of Bob’s early life is unknown, though it is believed to have been tough. Discovered in the woods under a roadside sign, Bob was little more than skin and bones when a caring family found him. They didn’t think he would make it, but they fed him small pieces of meat and slowly brought him back to health.
For about six months, Bob lived in a 10×10 kennel and roamed his rescuers’ basement and yard. He formed a special bond with the family’s beagle, his favorite playmate, and proved to be sweet-natured, curious, and full of kitten-like energy. Though nervous around new people, Bob loves attention from those he trusts and is known for his enthusiastic purring.
As Bob grew, it became clear that his wild nature and specialized needs were more than his rescuers could manage. They made the responsible and loving decision to contact Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge, where Bob now has the safe, species-appropriate care he deserves.
Upon arrival, Bob was treated for a hernia, dewormed, vaccinated, and assessed by our expert veterinary team. He’s thriving—healthy, playful, and discovering his new wild space. Sponsoring Bob helps ensure he continues to receive top-notch care, enrichment, and a forever home at the Refuge. Thank you for being part of his journey.
Your contribution helps provide them with nutritious meals, veterinary care, habitat maintenance, and enrichment activities.
