The Eureka Springs Blues Weekend Father’s Day Picnic at Turpentine Creek Sunday, June 15th, 2014

Every year the Eureka Springs Blues Weekend (June 12-15, 2014) ends with a Father’s Day Blues Picnic at Turpentine Creek. World renowned artists and local acts perform, ending the day with a huge Blues Jam. Admission is included in all Blues Weekend Passes, or you can pay $5 per person at the gate! Not only is there great music all afternoon long, but we have food, drinks and fun activities for kids of all ages.

Blues Weekend ends with “Blues Cats & Big Cats” Father’s Day picnic at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge

Blues benefit concert for big cats in Eureka Springs scheduled for June 13 – 16

(Eureka Springs, AR) –April 8, 2013 – One of the most popular blues festivals in the US will celebrate the conclusion of their 6th annual concert series at Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge (TCWR), with a special outdoor Father’s Day blues performance featuring 2013 International Blues Challenge winner, Selwyn Birchwood, from 2 to 6 p.m. on Sunday, June 16. The event will also feature food & beverages, arts & craft vendors, and kids activities. Admission for the blues performance is only $5.00 for non-Blues Weekend pass holders.

Blues Weekend starts Thursday, June 13, and features over three-dozen bands performing at numerous venues throughout historic Eureka Springs, Arkansas. Headliners include The Nighthawks and The Chicago Blues Revue, which features Grammy® winners John Primer, Bob Stroger and Kenny “Beedy Eyes” Smith.

Several acts performing during Blues Weekend will also join a “jam session” at the end of the refuge picnic performance, including members of the Chicago Blues Revue, EG Kight and JP Soars.

TCWR is one of America’s largest big cat sanctuaries. Refuge admission prices are $15.00 for adults and $10.00 for seniors, veterans, and children between the ages of 4-12. No admission fee for children under 4. Ticket proceeds support ongoing care for over 130 tigers, lions, cougars, leopards and other wildlife making TCWR their life-long home. Eureka Springs Blues Weekend BackgroundTCWR Board member Charles “Rags” Ragsdell and his wife, Lori, started Blues Weekend in 2008 as a fundraiser for TCWR featuring what Blues Festival Revue has called “A Who’s Who of the Blues,” including Grammy winners, Blues Music Award winners, Blues Music Hall of Fame members, and up-and-coming acts as well as regional favorites. Past headliners include Koko Taylor, Indigenous, Guitar Shorty, Hubert Sumlin, David “Honeyboy” Edwards, Charlie Musselwhite, Elvin Bishop, Coco Montoya, Joe Louis Walker, Kenny Neal, Lazy Lester, Magic Slim, John Hammond, Ruthie Foster and Tommy Castro. Visitors from 18 states, Canada and Iceland attended the 2012 blues festival.
