Volunteering

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is always in need of volunteers. Individuals or groups will find their donated time very rewarding. There are many projects which need to be done that currently take time from our primary staff that care for over 100 exotic cats. There is no contact with the animals- but working around them, and must be 12 or older (accompanied by an adult if under 18.)

Volunteering from home:
Get items from our wish list donated (our Amazon wish list or from our website)
Pass out our informational fliers and brochures

Project Volunteers:
TCWR hosts volunteer days when projects are available. They usually happen on Saturdays and allow me to group individuals or small groups together to complete a large project. I place the information on our Facebook page and I also have a list of people that I email. If you would like to be added to that list, please let me know.

These volunteers can help with projects such as:

  • Painting
  • Clearing existing enclosures
  • Grounds maintenance
  • Construction projects
  • Highway Cleanup
  • Habitat Construction- when projects available

Group Volunteers:
If you are interested in bringing a group to volunteer the projects available are listed above.
(Due to safety constraints, we limit the group size to 25 people.)

Garden Club at Turpentine Creek:
This ideally would be for people looking to volunteer on a weekly or on a bimonthly basis.
We have a handful of flower bed around the grounds and a beautiful enrichment garden at Turpentine Creek. We want the guests to have an all around great experience while visiting and the enrichment garden is full of aromatic and calming herbs that we give to the cats. Turpentine Creek needs help keeping the flower beds looking tidy and weed free.

Docents:
This level of volunteering requires a high level of commitment; please take this into consideration when inquiring about the docent program.
