Turpentine Creek needs your help providing meat for the cats.

Turpentine Creek Wildlife Refuge is a no-kill facility dedicated to rescuing abused, abandoned and unwanted big cats. The refuge is located in NW Arkansas is seeking a full-time, 6 months Intern Keeper. The refuge is a non-profit facility of over 100 rescued exotic cats. Work is often physically demanding. Applicants must be self-motivated, with high desire to provide the best care available to animals. Applicants must also be observant and able to keep detailed records. The ability to work in a team environment or independently is important. A degree in Zoology, Biology or related field is preferred, but experience with exotic animal husbandry may be considered. Twelve positions are opened each internship. Internships run every six months. If you are looking for a full-time internship working around big cats you just may have found it.

The Horticulture Intern will assist with the maintenance and improvement of the landscaped areas of the Refuge, including the planting, pruning and watering of trees, shrubs and perennials, spreading mulch on landscaped areas, labeling of plant displays, mowing; weed, undergrowth and plant litter removal. Also, responsible for the identification and removal of toxic plants; as well as the development of browse for environmental enrichment. This internship requires the completion of an Independent Project developed under the guidance of the Intern supervisor and will coordinate volunteers in support of project goal. Must be able to lift 50+ lbs. Requires the completion of a Bachelor's Degree in Horticulture, Botany, or a related field involving horticultural and landscaping practices. One position is opened each internship. Internships run every six months.

There are many projects which need to be done that currently take time from our primary staff. Thank you so much for your interest in volunteering to help the animals and the refuge. The staff and interns take care of over 100 big cats and all of these volunteer projects free the staff and interns to do other necessary tasks.
