Alex

Alex came to Turpentine Creek from Little Rock, Arkansas. She was confiscated during a drug raid and was left homeless when her previous owner went to jail. The Arkansas Game & Fish Commission in the area was responsible for her, and they contacted TCWR to see if we could help. She was desperate for a home, and no one else was there to help, so TCWR came to her rescue.

Realizing that Bear needed a new home, a relative called Turpentine Creek. The bear was in a very small cage, approximately 16' in diameter and about 5' tall. Bear was unable to stand up because it was so short, and his area hadn't been cleaned in quite some time. His den was an oil drum off to one side of the cage which was half full of waste. He had been eating dog food that the 9-year-old boy fed him.

Bowden

Bowden was given to his previous owners as a birthday gift and remained with them seven months. The owners met the staff of TCWR at a public appearance for Turpentine Creek in St. Louis, Missouri, and asked if we could give the cat a good home. Although he had been neutered (and declawed), he had begun to mark his territory in their home. They felt that giving him away to a humane location would be better for all concerned.

Bowden is ideal for use in the TCWR public outreach programs. He regularly travels to schools and other public appearances. He is friendly with Scott Smith, our vice president, but is fairly shy around anyone else.
